DRESS CODE
BALLET: GIRLS:
- Solid color dance leotard, color varies by class level (see below). Leotard may be tank, short or long sleeved, or camisole.
- Pink tights and pink ballet shoes.
- Hair neatly groomed in a bun, or if it is too short for a bun, pulled back from the face in a ponytail or with a stretch headband. Bangs clipped up away from face. How- to videos.
- Tights recommended, optional in hot weather.
- Warm-ups (optional): black leggings, capris or boy shorts; black slim fitting long sleeve top or wrap sweater (any color) may be worn over tights and leotard. Legwarmers any style.
- (Optional) Dancers younger than 8 may wear leotards with attached short, soft skirts or pull-on skirts. No tie wrap skirts or tie wrap sweaters.
- (Optional) Dancers older than 8 may wear short wrap ballet skirts and wrap sweaters, (or attached, or pull-on styles of skirts)
- No baggy or puffy outerwear, no big jewelry, no shoes with holes (for safety). Dancers will be asked to remove these items.
- Young dancers: No crowns, jewelry, headbands that fall off, stiff or puffy tutus.
BALLET: BOYS:
- Black leggings, sweat pants or shorts, white T shirt or long sleeve shirt.
- Black ballet shoes.
LEOTARD COLOR BY CLASS LEVEL:
- Pre-Ballet & Creative Movement (age 3-4): Pink
- Ballet I & II (age 5-6): Light Blue
- Ballet III & IV (age 6-9): Lavender
- Ballet V (age 9-11): Burgundy or Navy Blue
- Intermediate & Advanced (age 11 & up): Black
BALLET SHOES:
- Soft ballet slippers, leather. Girls/Ladies: Pink. Boys/Gentlemen: Black.
- Pointe shoes by invitation only.
MUSICAL THEATER & JAZZ:
- Dancers may wear any of the same dancewear from ballet classes.
- Or: Solid black stretch pants, leggings or shorts. Solid color t-shirt, long sleeve, or tank top (NO printing). Midriff must be covered.
- Ballet slippers or jazz shoes * discuss with teacher for styles
- Hair up off the face in a ponytail, headband or bun.
- No baggy or puffy outerwear, no big jewelry, no shoes with holes (for safety).
ADULT BALLET:
- Any comfortable exercise clothes, (leggings, tank tops, t-shirs ...).
- Leotard and tights -optional.
- Ladies: pink ballet slippers.
- Gentlemen: black ballet slippers.
- Hair up off the face.
